Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper describing a performance management (PM) system you are familiar with or that you want to learn about, such as the following:

  • Professional development

Discuss the PM system’s:

  • primary purpose
  • procedural steps
  • process characteristics
  • link to strategic planning

Consider an ideal PM process. Think about how it should be designed and how it should function. Determine the differences between the PM process you are familiar with and an ideal PM process.

Analyze the following:

  • Indicate which of the key characteristics of an ideal PM system are present in the PM system you are familiar with. Discuss the implications of these characteristics on the effectiveness of the system.
  • Identify key characteristics that are lacking in the system you are familiar with. Address the implications that the lack of these characteristics have on the effectiveness of the system.
  • Overall, what can be done to improve the system you are familiar with to produce better alignment with the characteristics ideal of the ideal PM system?

Include at least two peer-reviewed references. Your textbook will not count as one of your required peer-reviewed references.
